Understanding typographics and the use of words and images together successfully to indicate a positive message.
I am looking at this sort of work to see if a message that is easily identifiable and obvious due to it being written, can be made more powerful through the use of colour, structure and shape. Whilst looking in to the affect of different fonts on the reader.
This Image shows uses a limited Colour pallet using the obvious yellow to represent Sunshine .

Seeing the effect on the meaning when colour is taken away from the image there is little emphasise on the main points to this Quote that you are happy when skies are grey when there is no colour in the image it contradicts what it is saying.
The effect on having a harsher and more intense colour like red can make the comment seem sarcastic as the colour red and Happy seem to contradict each other.

Green indicates growth is similar to yellow but not as effective.
The text is in a shape related to the subject matter a circle for the sun . The circle is easy on the eyes and is a positive shape that is hole some and compat
inverting the background affects the intensity of the words depending on their colour so less weight is put on the words happy and sunshine.
Using shape to compliment the text I designed a title page for the Book the Footprints she made.
Ideas For the Title the footprints she made putting in to a footprint shape.
I really like the inverse version of this one as well as the words become almost luminos, It makes me think of when bottom of soles leave and imprints in to the ground.
The use of shape alongside text can help strengthen the words meaning and add direction. This is also prominent when making bunting with quotes on them as the Triangular shape helps add value to the meaning.

The image above's use of framing is not that effective due to it detracting from the words and being too busy for the page.I feel that this maybe because of the over use of dots in the design
There is a really nice balance between positive and negative space. The colours of Gold and Bright pink are striking and go well together.
Changing the colour scheme to a more traditional green for leaves indicates a more spring time feel affecting what you associate a bright Future with The Blue writing is a Little Less fun than the gold .
The illustrations accompanying the text frame the type in a focused manner.
Having Text in the centre of the page helps to draw your attention to whilst highlighting it with embelishments that add to how you read the image. Using leaves and petals instead of having a lightbulb Makes me think of the image as a message about positivity and brightness in everyday happiness rather than brightness as in the amount of light.
Through separating the different patterns in the frame, it is easy to distinguish a petal like pattern within the border. This shows the basic symmetry in the piece, making it well balanced .
This is a great Example as to how Pattern and text can be used to gether.
All of the Colours chosen are all pretty similar in their tone used other than the emphasis on the words beauty and Happy
Looking at the inverse of the pattern on the top right corner the image has a different weighting .As well as the Lettering not being as clear .
Applying what i learnt to the quote Find the Joy in the Journey
Idea 1
Using different types of wheels to Frame the text Find the Joy in the Journey !
Idea 2 Using Hot Airballons to frame the text
Designing the layout
Illustrator .
Looking for joyful looking patterns .Through looking at the Indian patterns I tried to stick to material pattens rather than Paisley Patterns and also henna patterns.
Applying the patterns to the design I have tried to make an even balance between horizontal and vertercal griding for the patterns.
I would love to have half of the Colours be bold and bright and the other half slightly more muted tones.
Choosing a joyful colour pallet .
Final images
Deconstrctuing the images layout
Checking the grid of the Text alongside the baskets as well as tying to get it as the centre focus point adding depth and direction through having a small hot air ballon at the top and Larger one in the middle at the botom ,
Framing the text
I don't think that there are too many colours used in this image but i would like to in the future look in to how other colour pallets can work together and help improve the Message .
